the impact of long shore drift on coastlines
· Longshore drift occurs when the current meets the beach on an angle, picks up grains of sand, retreats and washes the sand further up the beach. The thinning of the beach is a concern for infrastructure near the coast as high tides and storms may damage homes too close to the beach. It also limits human use of the coast.
