· Optimal concentration of NFC or NSC in diets for lactating dairy cows is not well defined as summarized in the most recent NRC publiion (NRC, 2001). To avoid ruminal acidosis and other metabolic problems, the maximum concentration of NFC should be approximately 33 to 43% of ration DM (Nocek, 1997).
